A
MESSAGE FROM OUR PASTOR REGARDING THE HAITI
EARTHQUAKE RELIEF
Dear
Faith Family:
With each passing day, I am increasingly stunned
by the devastation, the loss of life and suffering
caused by the earthquake in the country of Haiti.
Thousands of lives have been lost and countless
others are buried under the rubble left by this
disaster. Yet despite what has happened, we still
can and must as the prophet did, "rejoice
in the Lord and joy in the God of our salvation"
(Habakkuk 3:7). For God is in control and even
this tragedy can turn out for His good. The only
thing worse than
this disaster would be if "good people"
and specifically "God's
people"
stand by and do nothing.
On the eve of our celebration of the life and
legacy of Dr. Martin King, Jr., we have been given
a tangible and urgent opportunity; indeed
responsibility to show by our faith and our works
that we truly want to "help
somebody". I
am writing to you to strongly encourage your
support of our faith family's relief effort to
Haiti with a sacrificial gift. During
the remainder of the month of January, we will
dedicate ten percent (10%) of our weekly tithes
and offering income to provide assistance and
relief to those who have been affected by this
disaster. You can help by: (1)
increasing the amount of your regular tithes and
offerings, (2) designating a gift for Haitian
relief beyond your regular tithes and offerings in
the "Mission/Outreach"
section of the offering envelope or (3) by using
the "World
Missions"
envelope(s) provided in your giving packet, to make
your special sacrificial contribution.
Remember that Jesus said, "Inasmuch
as ye have done it unto one of the least of these
my brethren, ye have done it unto me"
(Matthew 25:40). I thank you in advance for your
compassion and generosity. We will keep you
informed of our efforts and reevaluate our
response to this ongoing crisis in light of
changing needs at the end of this month.
In the Grip of His Grace,
Dr. T. D. Stubblefield,
Pastor-Teacher
